Mike playing War Thunder (WWII plane video game):
Mike: I shot down the kittyhawk!
Me: And it fell into the water. It's not a kittyhawk anymore...
Mike: Yeah, now it's just a catfish.
Can I just say something about the "Tips for Jesus" thing that has been circulating Facebook?
It is one of the dumbest ways to spread holiday cheer, and here's why:
Tips are taxable income. They are reported on the server's W-2 (box 8, in case you were curious).
So by tipping someone an extra $10,000 in one night, you've caused their taxable income to increase by that much, and when they get around to filing their tax return, they might actually owe more now because tax may or may not have been withheld on that ridiculously large tip.
So when you tip that much, at least a fourth of it goes to the government instead of your beloved waitress or whoever.
A better idea of spreading "holiday cheer" which I guess is the American equivalent for money now, would just be to leave a check on the table written out to the server. In the memo box, write "Merry Christmas" or "Jesus" or whatever your fancy is. And then leave a normal % tip with the meal.
That way, your ostentatious brouhaha isn't taxable.
Gifting ≠ tipping.
Know the difference.

Good to know, you should really inform more people about that.
ReplyDelete--
I always thought "several" was 4.
Oh and I seriously loled at that cup song vid
DeleteThink about how sticky your car would be for years after that.
ReplyDeleteAnd I actually had trouble deciding on the one for four. "Group" and "team" might've worked, but I wanted something with the letter q in it.
Several is seven because several - ral + n = seven
That's sort of a stretch for "several".
DeleteI guess if he was drinking water it wouldn't be too bad. Course, it did look like coke or something.
