Read This Aloud

I love you with every part of speech and mark of punctuation
I love you with every participle, tense, and conjugation
My words are merely signposts for a higher truth diffused
Grammar could not know the purpose for which it is used

I love you with pentamer, poem rhythm, rhyme, and verse
I love you with my essays, but I somehow think they're worse
My words are my tailored fashion, my unique present to gift
If only just to cause the corners of your mouth to lift

I love you with my language, vocabulary, and my diction
I love you like literature, a fantasy nonfiction
My words are sunshine rays, healing waters in times of crises
Therein I grow catalyzing seeds for all my plot devices

I love you with my letters, phonetics, and alphabet
I love you like calligraphy that paper can't forget
My words are building blocks, the bricks of my imagination
Architecture of my musings are now written in creation

I love you with my ink and wood, rubber eraser shavings
I love you with my moonlit scribbles in times of daylight savings
My words are destiny and holding more power than I should
Given authorship, in black and white
I did the best I could.

didn't you know I used to be a Poet,
TWS
