Lyrics
Trains are for the smokers and for those afraid of heights
And those that want the scenery never seen on flights
Trains are for those who can afford to take the long way
I've got more than the weekend, than the weekend
Than the weekend, oh I
I will take the
Train
Miami isn't far away
Going south
Watching the sun set on the right
Windows cast the fading light
On where we've been, now where we are
The lonesome whistle in the distant dark
Trains are for the dining car
Where you cornered me on your side (I was on your side)
I said that you would marry her, and it'd be the end of us
But we had a good ride (a good ride)
I knew everything would change after that
Like changing cars when changing tracks
Gotta hold on (hold on)
Gotta hold on (hold on)
You gotta hold on tightly to the
Train
Miami isn't far away
Going south
Watching the sun set on the right
Windows cast the fading light
On where we've been, now where we are
The lonesome whistle in the distant dark
*SICCCCK ocarina solo*
Trains are for the forgetful and for those who remember when
They lost something close and personal
Because it was important then
I took my long-sleeved shirt off
Rolled it in the window to sleep on
I left it (I left it)
Then I left it (I left it behind)
It wasn't the only thing that I left on that
Train
Savannah isn't far away
Going north
Watching the sun set on our left
Screaming the goodbyes we should have said
Returning to where we first embarked
We are the lonesome whistle in the distant dark
Now we are the lonesome whistle in the distant dark
Now we are the lonesome whistle in the distant dark
Now we are the lonesome whistle in the distant dark
A few notes:
This one's pretty personal, but it's about a time I rode a train and realized everything had changed forever. Like a train, the relationship was headed to one destination and there was nothing to be done about it.
