Queue

 Lyrics:

We are the worst of friends
Maybe the best of enemies
We are the closest in our most distant memories

Now separated by space and time
A different dimension where you have the court
But the ball is mine

And when we talk if even at all
It's staggered, one-liner conversations
We used to have so much to say
But now we don't for days
And I'm still stuck on read
Waiting in your queue

Long way overdue
You get to me when you want to
And there's nothing I can do
Waiting in your queue

It seems so one-sided but on both our sides
It's like we decided to just move on with our lives
But haven't cut each other off
There's still a slightly open door
And every now and then, we remember to send
A batch of words going back and forth

How we talk if even at all
Stilted, polite, pedantic dialogue
It's the price we pay for being far away
I have nothing to say
You're still stuck on read, yeah
Waiting in my queue

Long way overdue
I'll get to you when I want to
And there's nothing you can do
Waiting in my queue

And there's nothing I can do
(When we talk, if even at all)
I'm still stuck on read, yeah
Waiting in your queue

Long way overdue
Waiting in your queue
And there's nothing I can do
Waiting in your queue
Long way overdue
You'll get to me when you want to
And there's nothing I can do
Waiting in your queue

A Few Notes:

This is about that helpless feeling of being ignored via electronic messages.
When it takes For. Ev. Er. for someone to get back with you.
But then you realize that you do it, too.
The queue is that space between having read it and responding to it.
Still stuck on read?
Yeah, you're in the queue!

This song actually started with making a beat and building from there which has never happened in the history of me. Usually I don't have the patience to come up with and play beats all the way through (usually I rely on guitar strum patterns and go from there), but this time I was determined!
I was almost certain I wasn't going to have any guitar in it at all, but then I added a little in verse 2 and loveeeeeeeeeeed it so I kept it.

This was also my first lyric video, and it only took me a few hours to put together.
It may be a little gauche with the black and white, candle burning, camera staring, but I'll get better. I'm still an amateur. :P
Mike was the one that suggested I do lyric videos to get my music out there because they would take less time. That man is full of good ideas!

Fun fact: You pronounce the first letter in the word "queue" but the last four are silent.
Mike and I started pronouncing it "koo-way-way", except in this song of course.
It's some kind of metaphor for how long-distance relationships go.
You usually have a strong start followed by weeks of silence.
Still stuck on read, yeah, waiting in your

You get to me when you want to.
